Activity check for
of my two HeatherClan cats, Stoneshadow and Copperstream!
I used the song Suddenly (from Les Mis) as my inspiration for this, because it is pretty much what happened.
Stoneshadow was cold and hostile until he found Copperstream and pretty much adopted her as his daughter. Also, Stoneshadow has that fox (that gave him his scars) following him so it just adds to how related they are!!

Stoneshadow walked alone through the heather cover land that stretched out as far the Central Island one way, and to the end of the world the other way. He sniffed the warm summer air for any sign of prey and he smelled rabbit and mouse, his ears pricking and his head turning toward the scents. As he came closer another scent made him pause, "Twoleg place? Cat..?" He murmured, his thoughts coming out loud and then he heard a small squeal and he rushed forward, coming over a slight hill and as he came to the top he noticed a small kit- without a tail and it's ginger and brown fur all bristled as it ran forward, leaping and pouncing on something.
Stoneshadow watched, bewildered at this and then he blinked in surprise as the small kit lifted its head, a mouse bleeding and limp in its tiny jaws.
[Woah... For such a young kit to catch something... Wait, how did it even get here?] He thought and he moved forward, only to curse as he noticed the kit was downwind from him- so his scent went straight to it. The kit's head whipped around and he heard it hiss, fur bristling again and it turned, about to run but Stoneshadow had bounded over, coming in front of the kit and making it skid to a halt, looking up in surprise.
He saw fear flash in [a she-kit?] her dark blue eyes but she backed up a step, dropping the mouse and hissing, trying to intimidate the tom, "You can't have this! I caught it!" She snapped, her voice high and she hissed again.
Stoneshadow couldn't help but laugh at this, which surprised the young kit. "I don't want your mouse, you did catch it fair and square. It would be wrong of me to take it away from you." He replied and he sat down, showing he wasn't a threat to her. She didn't relax though as she watched him, suspicion in her gaze.
"So how are you? My name is Stoneshadow." He meowed, greeting her like she was a clanmate and he introduced himself, "What is your name little one?" He asked, his voice softening and this made the kit's eyes narrow.
"Don't you, little one me, Stoneshadow!" She snapped and this made the tom laugh again. The kit glared at him but sat down, "My name is Copper." She muttered and Stoneshadow nodded.
"Where did you come from Copper?" He asked now.
"My twoleg home, I didn't like it anymore so I ran away." She told him, saying it like it was such a normal thing.
Stoneshadow on the other hand blinked in shock, "You came from the twoleg place? How did you get here then!?" He asked, and this made Copper smirk, seeing that she had impressed him.
"I just went out in the morning and walked, nothing happened. You are the first cat I've seen." She told him and smiled. The tom saw this and he blinked, smiling back to her.
"So, what are your plans? Were you leaving to join a clan?" He asked her and the kit nodded, "Well then, I think you should come with me." He meowed and he got to his paws, walking toward the camp. He paused, looking back- wondering if the kit would even listen to him- but sure enough she was tagging along right behind him, her mouse in her jaws and her eyes bright in excitement, it seemed like she was holding back to urge to just run forward toward her new home.
Stoneshadow felt a small smile crawl its way onto his muzzle and his felt his fur warm as he realized that he wanted to protect this kit. There was just something about her that brought a protective, fatherly type feeling out. He turned back forward as they neared the camp.
Coming into the camp Stoneshadow went straight to the leaders den, instructing Copper to stay outside while he talked with Robinstar.
After a few minutes he came out with a smile on his muzzle, "Copper, Robinstar agreed to let you join the clan.." He exclaimed and looked to where the ginger/brown colored kit was supposed to be. "Copper? Copper!?" He called, looking around as panic began to well up inside him. He then heard laughing and he turned to see a small group of apprentices and other kits. "What...?" He murmured and he approached them his heart sinking when he saw one of the older apprentices, (made up name) Pebblepaw pinning down Copper while the others laughed, chanting: "Kitty-pet! Kitty-pet!"
Stoneshadow snarled and he pushed past two apprentices to get into the group- the chanting cut off and was replaced by gasps and scared murmurs.
The tom sank his teeth into the Pebblepaw's scruff and he ripped the young tom off the kit. Pebblepaw gasped and yowled in pain as Stoneshadow put him to the ground and pinned him beneath his own paws. "Just what in StarClan's name do you think you were doing? Huh!?" He snarled, his paws pressing into the apprentices shoulders (claws sheathed of course.)
"Sh-she's a.. K-kitty pet! We don't want one of those in our clan!" Pebblepaw stammered and then snarled, and Stoneshadow narrowed his eyes. He pressed down hard with his paws for a second, causing Pebblepaw to gasp, before he let the apprentice get up. His ears were back in fear, though he held a harsh look toward Copper.
Stoneshadow hissed at all the young cats, "Copper is joining this clan. She will be one of your clanmates and you will respect her! If I find out any of you doing anything like this again, I won't go easy on you. You got that!?" He snapped, and the cats nodded, all turning and running to their dens.
Stoneshadow turned to see Copper curled in a ball, hiding her face with her brown lynx striped paws. "Copper...? Are you oka-" He began but the kit rushed forward to him, burying her nose into his front legs and wrapping her paws around one leg, tears streaming down her small cheeks and landing on his grey fur.
"Shh shh... It's okay. Everything's going to be okay now. I'm here. And I won't let anything happen to you." He murmured, leaning down and licking the kit's head comfortingly. She looked up at him, her eyes filled with tears.
"Do you mean that...?" She whimpered and he smiled.
"Yes I do... I promise." He purred and she smiled to him, purring and leaning her small head against his leg again.
Later that night he stayed in the medicine cat den with Copper- because he wanted Teardrop to check her out and make sure she was healthy. He sat in a nest and Copper was laying on top of his tail that was wrapped around her.
Stoneshadow looked down at the sleeping kit and he smiled, purring as a warmth and happiness filled his heart. He knew he would take care of this kit.
